Tuition

Tuition is charged on a per term basis. Students are expected to complete each term they sign up for and must pay tuition and fees in full. Those interested in studies at The Art of Piano may schedule a trial lesson or interview before registering for the term. Payment for the term is due at the time of registration but an installment plan is available. In case a new student begins lessons after the term has begun, his/her tuition will be prorated.

Lessons are 60, 45 or 30 minutes long, held once or twice a week. With each individual lesson, an additional 30 minutes or more of computer time is offered in the student computer lab to practice note reading, music theory, ear training and other music skills . Once a month, group lessons or classes may be scheduled in place of individual lessons for ensemble playing or learning activities best done in groups. Such group lessons/classes will be at least as long as individual lessons. Additional classes may also be offered time to time. There will also be a number of performance opportunities throughout the year.

Tuition for any given term is based on the number of weeks in the term and the length of the weekly private lessons. However, tuition at The Art of Piano is not simply a per lesson (per hour) charge as a number of other activities will also be provided throughout the year. Moreover, The Art of Piano instructor’s many responsibilities include:

  • teaching, preparation, and related activities and services
  • studio management and maintenance
  • continuing education and professional activities

Please, contact The Art of Piano for the current tuition schedule.

Make-up policy:

Regular and prompt lesson attendance is expected. One make-up lesson per term may be given if the instructor is notified at least 24 hours in advance. Make-up lessons cancelled by the student will be forfeited. For additional flexibility, a swap-list will be provided for students who wish to be included. Lessons and/or classes missed by the instructor will be made up. Lessons that must be cancelled due to weather emergencies (tornado warning or severe snow-, ice- or thunderstorm) will be made up in the form of a music and/or performance party.
